2005 CHAMIONSHIP

Palmerstown House Golf Course made history by staging the Irish Region Championship in September 2005. It is doubtful that any other course has ever hosted a national championship within six months of opening.

The tournament was won by the now Open Champion, Padraig Harrington, for the third time. Padraig finished 3 under par and won following a three man sudden death play off with Damien McGrane and Steven Hamill.
